Service Projects

2004-2005

Mr. Juniata

This is our biggest service project.  It is a male beauty pageant where people from the school nominate the best looking guys from each class to participate in.  All the money that is made during this fundraiser goes to the Make A Wish Foundation.  This year we raised over $2000 again, which is enough to grant the average wish! Congratulations to our newest Mr. Juniata, Michael Meadows!

Take a Kid to the Game

Take a Kid to the Game is another annual event put on by Circle K. With help from the NCAA, kids from the community have the chance to come to a football game for free, and get free food, balloons, prizes, and can play all kinds of games and make crafts. After the game, they get to have their pictures taken with the football players and cheerleaders.

Unfortunately, the weather was threatening for this year's Take a Kid to the Game event, so we got stuck under the bleachers. It started raining immediately after the game, too, so not many parents let their kids stay after for pictures. Such is PA weather!

Midnight Movie

At this activity, the owner of the Huntingdon movie theater lets us have the movie theater for a weekend.  We show several of the latest movies from 10 PM until around 1 in the morning.  Admission is $1 and a can of food.  The food is given to a local food bank, and the money is donated to a charitable organization.  It is really fun to be able to go to a movie in the middle of the night (and for only a dollar!), and it's a great way to do a fundraiser! This year's Midnight Movie was on Friday and Saturday, November 12 and 13. It was quite the success! We managed to raise almost $475 for the United Way and boxes upon boxes of cans for the Huntingdon Food Bank!
