The Null Set:
Juniata College Mathematics Club

President: Justin T. Schultz, Mathematics and Physics '08
Vice President: Matthew Katz, Mathematics and Japanese Studies '08
Treasurer: Maria Rewiako '07
Secretary: Ashley Kuzar, Mathematics '06

mission statement: To promote the appreciation and enjoyment of mathematics among club members and the entire Juniata community. This shall include, but not be limited to, co-sponsoring mathematics colloquia and other programs, hosting math-related entertainment events, and sending delegations to mathematics conferences.

contact info: just send an email to nullset@juniata.edu

events: Events for the 2003-2004 school year should include: annual beginning of the year barbecue, movie nights, regular group study nights, and perhaps a conference too. Also, come learn how to play "Set," the coolest game ever! ...And remember, we are always game for new ideas!

past events: Two years ago, we had a series of group study sessions, a few movie showings, and sent a delegation to the Moravian Undergraduate Research Conference.
Last year was a little slow, but this year things are going to pick up!

This Year: Look for announcements about Math-related movies such as Pi, A Beautiful Mind, Goodwill Hunting, and let's not forget the Disney classic, Donald Duck in Mathmagic Land. (I'm sure we can come up with some more obscure, artsy movies as well...send us your ideas!)
Come learn how to play a super-fun, exciting, easy-to-learn but never boring card game, "SET"!
We also hope to get some Math Club T-Shirts going so that we, too, can distinguish ourselves while walking around campus. Remember, math and alcohol don't mix: don't drink and derive! (Got other possible t-shirt ideas? E-mail them to nullset@juniata.edu or contact any of the officers!)

This Year's Theme: Math is fun! And it doesn't just involve sitting in a classroom and number-crunching. You can be awful at math and still appreciate it and enjoy learning about it. So come out and see what fun events Null Set has to offer!
