BEACHLEY AWARD
-We are trying to get the Beachley Award for Distinguished
Academic Service. We want to get as many meaningful, professional nomination
letters to the Provost's office as possible. Dr. White/Borgardt are writing
letters with a lot of the information about academic service/committees.
-There is more information about the award on my (Elise) desk:
feel free to take a copy!
-Please, if you are so inclined, write letters about how Dr.
Siems has shaped your academic life here at Juniata, how he has helped the
department, his impact on you, his character, etc.
-Student input has a lot of influence over the judging committee,
so please help us get one of the most deserving Professors this award :)!
-some things to note: Dr. Siems was influential in keeping
the physics lounge for us (not turning into a classroom or lounge). He also
buys all of the steak for the opening picnic (just things to note about
how he shapes the department)
-Letters are due by March 31st to the Provost office
-If you want your letter proofread, feel free to show it to
Dr. B.
MALL PHYSICS...
...is actually happening this year April 4th.
We will be doing it some time between 10am-4pm
-MAA attendees will still be able to make this
-fun afternoon and SPS account paid for dinner!
-more logistic information to come!
HUNTINGDON COMMUNITY CENTER
-there is an after school program (4-6) that
RSOs can do an activity for. We were thinking that this might be a good
warm up for PPN.
-the tentative date is the Wed. before PPN: more information
on this to come to.
PPN
-Our 10th year of PPN!!!!
-There is a demo list on the table in the lounge: please start
thinking about what demo you want to do.
-If you are planning a new demo, get right on that so funds
can be allocated/supplies bought.
-Need to get LED/coloring book e-mail contact info.
-Things to note: Sam Slicker (HAHS) can get us the ping pong
ball cannon, can we do anything with sulfer-hexaflouride?
-Going to start advertising in schools/newspapers/announcements:
Mike Wilson has a ton of contact information for local schools. We can make
up flyers for them to approve.
