Hi Everybody—
Here’s what we covered at our first SPS meeting.
*Awesome turnout—biggest SPS meeting I’ve seen!
*ZONE 3 MEETING IS BEING HELD AT JUNIATA OCTOBER 19-20—PLEASE E-MAIL SPS ACCOUNT TO VOLUNTEER(and if you’re in seminar, you’ll have to anyway)
-we need floor space in dorms so students from other colleges can stay here for free-please volunteer!
-The meeting will have two keynote speakers: on Friday the 19th there’s a talk about “The Physics of Superheroes” Go buy the book, I hear
it’s amazing. The other speaker(s) will be talking about how to make a lot of money in Health Physics.
-There will also be poster sessions and student research talks—contact Dr. B if you are interested.
-There will be entertainment on Friday night for all the students attending the meeting…possibly a 21+ event, or a dress like your favorite
Superhero (or physicist!)
*Wilfred Norris is a hott physicist…
*Homecoming this year is themed Science Palooza. There will be awesome physics demonstrations and fun—volunteer if you want to be a part of it!
*Projects for this year:
-vacuum cannons—talk to Nick Gabor
-Theremin—talk to Dan D’Orazio
-hovercraft—Nick Gabor
* random jokes involving Telsa Coil….
*Think of t-shirt ideas J
*SPS membership—sign up! FREE for Freshman and only $10 for everyone else!
-if you are a member, you are likely to get scholarship money!
